As part of our extensive, but optional Jr. Wrangler Program for all the kids who come to Latigo Ranch, a bonus page includes a place for them to suggest names for new horses that get added to the Latigo herd. Last year, we had some really great suggestions for some really great horses. Allow me to introduce you to our two winners:
Skye - a suggestion from Jenna, who stayed at Latigo in June/July of 2019
This name was given to a sorrel paint who loves treats. She needs a little more training before she goes into the guest string, but she's a sweet lady with a lot of heart - certainly majestic enough for such a noble name! Thanks, Jenna!
In her photo, you can see how curious our red and white paint is about Emily taking pictures while the herd goes thundering out to pasture.
Arcadia - a suggestion from Andrew, who stayed at Latigo in June/July of 2019
This name went so a small, sorrel Arabian/Quarter Horse with a good deal of bump and go in her hooves. A few more training sessions with our head wrangler, Hannah, and she'll make a great horse for years to come! She seems to suit the grace of the name well. Thanks, Andrew!
In this photo, you can see her on the right with her best buddy, Lark (left). Arcadia and Lark have been close ever since we bought them, and they're always running together in the herd.
Congratulations, you two! Your names were perfect fits for these horses, and we hope you'll be able to come back to Latigo to meet and treat these ponies with another dose of love!
The contest for name submissions continues, and we, here at Latigo, are always buying new horses. What are you waiting for? Latigo is waiting for you. Your kid's suggestions could be next!
