Most guest ranchers have chosen their profession because of the lifestyle. Running a guest ranch is not for everyone; the days are long, money is tight, problems are numerous, headaches are frequent. The rewards, however, are priceless. We are still savoring a week of delightful guests. Some were true members of our extended family, and others have been adopted in. All are loved mightily by us, and we found it exciting to watch them get to know each other and form that strong ranch bond that already has them talking about returning to the ranch together and even visiting each other during the winter months.
One delightful couple from North Wales booked for two weeks straight, and when they were in the middle of their second week, they realized they’d much rather stay on at the ranch instead of spending the final 5 days of their holiday in New York City. We don’t blame them one bit, and we were so pleased to have them here for a total of 18 days. That’s a record for Latigo.
We joke that we feel as if we’ve accomplished something good when we make our guests cry, and we had a beautiful illustration of that when a lovely young woman sobbed her way to the airport shuttle saying that everyone at the ranch had loved her so well she forgot she was an introvert.
Generosity is the love language of our cousins, and they brought us two custom-made "corn hole" games adorned with gorgeous photos from Latigo. It’s already seen many hours of fun on the front lawn. It will remain a testament to us of the reason we do what we do: loving and being loved by so many who call us family.
