Fat Bikes on the Latigo winter trail network.
Do you know what a Fat Bike is? It is a mountain bike that is designed to take really wide tires. Tires that are over 3.7” wide and some up to 4.8”. You ask, “Why would anyone want that?” They can be ridden on snow or sand where normal mountain bikes bog down.
We are having a couple of special, get acquainted days for fat bike folks to try their skill on our machine groomed trails. For only $25 you can get a trail pass and lunch. If you register at least 1 day in advance, you also get a free beer. You can snowshoe or XC ski on our trail system if you want to do that, too.
For details.
Bring your own fat bike or rent one from the local bike shop. If you don’t want to be that committed, Orange Peel Bikes of Steamboat Springs will be bringing several fat bikes to demo. Thanks Brock, and check out Orange Peel too.
These fun, get acquainted times will be on two special Saturdays – January 25th and March 1st.
You can come other times throughout the winter, too, but even if you are only planning to come for a day outing on our trails, you are advised to call ahead. To be environmentally responsible, we don't groom our trails daily, but we do that only as needed for our guests and according to the snow conditions.
Another good reason to call ahead is that road conditions can be quite variable here in the mountains. As I write this, it is snowing very hard here at the ranch. Not so just a few miles away and a 1,000 ft. lower in elevation.
If you want to join us for lunch or to stay overnight, please contact us to make a reservation in advance.
